In a remarkable feat, “The Kerala Story” is on the verge of surpassing the earnings of Ranbir Kapoor’s film “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.” According to Sacnik, “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar” amassed an impressive ₹173.90 crore during its 44-day run at the domestic box office. With its current momentum, “The Kerala Story” is poised to surpass this milestone, solidifying its position as a box office success.
Adah Sharma shared her perspective on “The Kerala Story,” emphasizing that the film delves into the issue of individuals exploiting Islam for the purpose of terrorism, particularly in relation to joining militant groups like ISIS. She clarified that the film does not revolve around any specific religion but instead sheds light on the menace of terrorism, which transcends religious boundaries. Adah expressed her strong confidence in her own religion and stated her commitment to not demean or undermine the beliefs of others. Recognizing the diversity of India, she highlighted the importance of respecting and honoring all religions within the country’s inclusive fabric.
“The Kerala Story,” produced by Vipul Shah, portrays the distressing accounts of women from Kerala who were coerced into converting to Islam and recruited by the terror organization ISIS. The film has faced its share of controversies, leading to its ban in West Bengal, while multiplexes in Tamil Nadu have halted its screening due to concerns over law and order. Conversely, some states such as Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have granted the film a tax-free status, recognizing its social significance. In response to the situation, the Supreme Court has announced that it will hear a plea challenging the Kerala High Court’s decision to deny a stay on the film’s release. Additionally, the highest court sought responses from the governments of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu regarding a separate plea by the film’s producers, who claim that the movie is being unjustly prevented from being screened in theaters in these two states. The legal proceedings are scheduled for Tuesday.
