Salman Khan Fails to Impress in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan: A Movie Review

Sukanya Verma notes that Salman Khan is stuck in a formulaic rut and the only way he knows to break free is to rely on the same old tricks. However, instead of the usual swagger, his recent work seems to reek of desperation.

Salman Khan seems to be stuck in a formulaic rut, relying on the same tired tricks to keep his audience engaged. Despite his efforts to inject some swagger into his performances, it appears that desperation has taken over. Essentially, Khan remains the same old ‘bhai’, constantly seeking the love and affection of his audience without bringing anything new to the table.

“Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ka Jaan” appears to be a poorly executed attempt at revitalizing a career that is suffering from fatigue. Unfortunately, this misguided effort only adds more fatigue to an already tired career. The film relies heavily on references to past successes such as “Maine Pyar Kiya,” “Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!,” and “Wanted,” as well as famous dance steps and style staples. However, these elements are poorly constructed and fail to add anything of substance to the film. In its attempt to cash in on the success of South cinema, the film struggles to let go of its inherently Bollywood mindset, resulting in a drab and forgettable remake of the already run-of-the-mill “Veeram,” originally starring Ajith.

For Salman Khan’s loyal fans, his Eid releases have become a highly anticipated event. This special date has become synonymous with the release of his larger-than-life, big-budget blockbusters. However, this year’s release, “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan,” may not be the perfect Eidi (gift) from Bhaijaan. Despite its action-packed family drama, the film’s paper-thin plot and mediocre music fail to make any significant impact. As a result, the film is unlikely to live up to the expectations of Salman Khan’s hardcore fans, who have come to expect much more from his Eid releases.

In “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan,” Salman Khan plays the role of a loving brother to his three siblings, Luv, Ishq, and Moh. Together, they embark on a mission to find their brother the perfect match, so that they can also be with their respective love interests without guilt. They succeed in setting him up with their new tenant, Bhagya Lakshmi (Pooja Hegde), who shares the same name as his ex-girlfriend. However, the plot thickens when it is revealed that Bhagya’s family has an enemy, Nageshwar (Jagapati Babu), who wants to eliminate their clan.

Despite its promising premise, the movie’s plot is disappointingly paper-thin and tries to do too much, ultimately falling short of even basic expectations. Director Farhad Samji’s film relies heavily on blood-soaked action sequences with little regard for logic. The story fails to gain momentum after the interval and becomes increasingly tedious. The romantic subplots involving the three brothers and their love interests (Chahat, Sukoon, and Muskaan) are unoriginal and uninspired, failing to add any depth to the already weak storyline.
